Solar Projector to help teach reading
Poor communities without electricity can harness the power of the sun to power an overhead projector invented by a non-profit group. This "kinkajou" projects text and images against a wall and have undergone successful tests across 45 villages in Mali. This rugged machine can withstand heat and rough handling, and uses a microfilm, a solar panel, a battery, LED technology, and a measure recharging instrument. It costs just $50 and a $10 roll of microfilm can hold up to 10,000 images. Here's hoping that this breakthrough will increase the literacy rate amongst the affected groups for a better life.
